He was 14 and lost his parents just a few days before I took this photo. He was travelling in the train to his uncle to get a job. He didn't have any money... for the ticket (or to eat). He did a great job of evading the ticket-collector on the train. What impressed me the most was his gaze. He never lowered his eyes... always looked straight in the eye. As if to say - "I am not ashamed of my condition". Taken in India.

if you look the boy in his eyes you see the sadness, the way I see it he looks a bit afraid also, not ashamed but he's hurt.
